This is the REAL account of an adult who suffered abuse in their childhood. The participant’s name has been changed to Jane and a voice filter has been used to maintain anonymity.

An alarming number of children worldwide continue to suffer abuse. Unfortunately, it is estimated that 9 out of 10 victims of child abuse know their abuser.

No child deserves to suffer abuse and no adult deserves the substantial effects that prior abuse can have on their lives. Child abuse can have long lasting impacts on its victims and those around them.

Our children rely on us and trust us to ensure their wellbeing and protect them from harm. Pay attention to the children around you and watch out for signs and/or behaviours which may indicate that they are being harmed.
