Thank You For Being A Friend! #ThumbPals

Our Cranberries celebrated World Friendship Day in style with, #ThumbPals! What is a thumb pal, you may ask? Well, a #ThumbPal is basically a digital pen pal; it’s someone who you have never met, usually in a foreign country, who you become friendly with by exchanging messages over social media. We partnered with two clubs in Uganda, the Rotaract Club of Kololo and the Rotaract Club of Naguru by pairing members from our Club with theirs to communicate via Social Media for five (5) days leading up to World Friendship Day. Daily challenges encouraged participants to share stories and images on topics including: food, fellowship, tourist attractions, music and impactful/favorite projects.

On World Friendship Day, the pairs made two posts on social media. The first included a brief write up on participants’ partners accompanied by photos. The posts were heartwarming and we were able to learn new things about our very own Cranberries. The second post was a joint Rota-Resume which encouraged pairs to create a name, share their favorite projects, years in service and positions held. Some noteworthy combined names include: Zanepher, Malexine, Mainest, Shareem, Robchel and Marobia, Although the project has ended in its official capacity, we are confident that the bonds formed will continue for many years to come.
