Service Saturdays #1: Nature Fun Ranch Takeover

SERVICE SATURDAYS was created out of the need for Rotaractors to be able to participate in meaningful and high impact Community Service projects while building fellowship with other members of the Club. This initial project partnered with one of Barbados’ prominent youth advocates and his charity to assist with landscaping and care of animals at the Nature Fun
Ranch, while looking for opportunities to provide greater support in future.

Members of our Rotary Partner Club (Rotary Club of Barbados) were present to take part in the service initiatives and aid in identifying areas where further assistance could be given. Approximately 20 children, were present to take part in the initiatives, providing the Rota-team of 36 Rotaractors and 9 Rotarians with a tour of the facilities and instructions on how to complete the assigned tasks.

This initiative tied in quite well with our Level Up theme, as we not only had a great turn out but managed to be impactful with the first project of it’s kind for the Club. We were also able to provide a quality experience
for Rotaractors and beneficiaries alike, while furthering building the connection between Rotary/Rotaract and the named charity.

The project showcased some hidden talents in our Club where Club Service Director Akeem Spencer was able to catch a record breaking 4 fish with his bare hands #Mulan. Even though the visit is over, our Club has already begun brainstorming possible fundraising projects to assist with the overall maintenance of the ranch. Stay tuned for more details.
