After not having an in-person meeting since March, members where longing for that face to face interaction. We had our first hybrid meeting on Tuesday 4th August 2020. It took a few weeks to source a location that could meet our Club’s demand while still allowing for the prevailing Health Protocols to adhere too. We reached out to our adoptive school (Luther Throne Memorial Primary School), and they welcomed us and provided the space needed and facilitated all our technical needs.
With all the chairs spaced, all surfaces sanitised and all technical equipment set up, we welcomed members and friends of our Club. We also welcomed members from our Sister Club, the Rotaract Club of UWI Cave Hill and our Sponsor Club, the Rotary Club of Barbados. The session was a joint one for both our sister club and us. As it also allowed us to hear from President Fiona and YSD Stanley and his team on their plans for their Club (Rotary Club of Barbados) and ours. We were however reminded that though plans have been set that we must be mindful of the very fluid state, we find ourselves in.
Both the Presidents of the Rotaract Clubs of UWI Cave Hill and Barbados, Akeeme Sealy and Rashida Prescod respectively, were given the opportunity to present pins and awards to their members who were unable to receive them due to virtual handing-overs which each Club hosted previously. In true Rotaract fashion, the evening was filled with shade, jokes and family vibes.
