On Saturday September 7th 2019, approximately 30 Rotaractors took to
Queens Park for 6:00 a.m. to feed and distribute clothing to the homeless
in and around the area. But before that, our cooking team, supervised by
Head Chef Rtr. Posha Doyle, prepared eggs, sausages, toast, baked beans,
juice, tea and oats. Persons on the receiving end were elated with the
breakfast menu and expressed their love for the oats served. They were
also very appreciative of the clothing provided, and some who didn’t
receive, put in the request for the next time.

Though we fell short on bread and clothing, it is agreed that all in
attendance were extremely grateful and had a grand time! One
gentleman mentioned how impressed he was with the amount of young
persons present and doing something positive. For him it was a
welcomed change from all the violence seen on the news.

We must commend the entire team and all persons who came out and lent
a helping hand, together we can definitely do great things. Some of our
members were amazed at how orderly the men and women we assisted
were and are excited for the next takeover. By the end of the day some
were offering to make contributions for the next time and it is my belief
that this day will be forever etched in all our hearts.

The Cranberries volunteer with the “Breaking Bread” organisation on
alternate Saturday mornings and our next full takeover is scheduled for
December 7, 2019! Stayed tuned for more updates and if you wish to assist,
donate or volunteer to help us continue to connect with our community in
